How To Make RSO - Rick Simpson Oil - Phoenix Tears

Now that you've realized the possible effects on your body of using Rick Simpson Oil and are willing to proceed, the next thing is to make it yourself to keep everything personalized and trusted. We must first start with one oz. of dried herb. This singular oz. will usually make 3-4 grams of oil, however the amount produced per oz. varies with each strain. A lb. of dried material usually makes about 2 oz. of high-end oil. A word of warning here as the following instructions are those laid out by Rick Simpson himself. Usually, cannabis extractions should exclusively be performed by licensed professionals. In trying to do it yourself, you must take be careful when boiling solvents off as the whole process is immensely flammable. Please avoid smoking, stove-tops, heat guns, sparks and red-hot heating elements. Place a fan to blow fumes away from the pot, as well as setting up in a well-aired and ventilated are for the entire process. - Place the thoroughly dry material into clean bucket. - Dampen the material with the solvent being used. Many solvents are workable here, although avoiding petroleum solvents would be advantageous. You can use butane, 99% isopropyl alcohol, ethanol or even plain old water. Specifically, two gallons of solvent is necessary to extract the THC from 1 lb. and 500 ml. is sufficient for an oz. - Crush the plant material by using a stick with clean, untreated wood or any other comparable device. Despite the material being damp, it'll still be easy to crush because of its dryness.
- Keep crushing the plant material with the stick, while adding a solvent until the plant substance is fully covered and soaked. Also keep stirring the mixture for 3 minutes. By doing this, the THC comes off the plant and makes its way into the solvent.
- Pour the solvent oil mix off the plant material into another bucket. Now, you've stripped the material of about 80% of its THC.
- Do a second wash by adding solvent to the mix and work for another 3 minutes to take away the remaining THC.
- Pour the solvent oil mix into the bucket with the first mix that was poured out before.
- Get rid of the plant material that's now been washed twice.
- Pour the solvent oil mix through a coffee filter into a clean container.
- Boil the solvent off with a rice cooker which will also hold over 1/2 gal. of solvent mix. DANGER: avoid sparks, cigarettes, open flames, red-hot elements, and stove-tops because the fumes can be immensely flammable.
- Next, add solvent to the rice cook until about 3/4 full and immediately turn on high heat. You must now check and ensure you're in a well-ventilated area before also setting up a fan to carry the solvent fumes away from you. Keep adding mixture to the cooker as the solvent evaporates once you have added it all to the cooker.
- Once the level in the rice cooker decreases for the last and final time, add a few drops of water (about 10 drops of water/pound of dry material). This aids in releasing the solvent residue while also protecting the oil from too much heat.
- When about 1" of a water/solvent mix in the rice cooker, put on oven mitts and pick up the unit and swirl the contents until the solvent has finished boiling off.
- When the solvent has completely boiled off, put the cooker on LOW heat. At no time should the oil ever reach over 290°F or 140°C.
- Please keep your oven mitts on and remove the pot with the oil from the rice cooker. Gently pour the oil into a stainless-steel container.
- Put the stainless-steel container in a dehydrator, or place it in a gentle heating device like a coffee warmer. It could take a few hours but the volatile terpenes and water will be evaporated from the oil. When there is no longer any surface activity on the oil, it's ready for use.
- Finally, suck the oil up in a plastic syringe or any other viable container that works. A syringe makes the oil easy to get rid of. When the oil cools down thoroughly, it should have the consistency of thick grease.
